Nobody tells you this about making perfume. You can't smell what you've made. Not right away. On day one it isn't a perfume, just ingredients standing in a room together, refusing to speak. A fresh blend lies to you. The oud shouts, the rose sulks. The truth only arrives once the oils stop being strangers.
So we never make just one blend. We make many. The same idea with small variations. A little more saffron in this one, a quieter oud in that. We seal them, date them, and carry them into the dark. Then we wait three months before we're allowed to smell our own creation.
On reveal day, the jars line up like exam results. Most fail. Some turn flat and forgettable. In others, one note bullies the rest into silence. But every now and then, one comes back changed. You lift the lid and it isn't a blend anymore. It's a place. A memory.
More often, the jars just send us back to the bench. We take what they taught us, adjust the ingredients, and blend again. Some scents go through round after round. One has been in and out of the dark for two years now, and it still isn't ready.
When a blend finally gets there, it earns a number. Even then, we can't sell it straight away. Every fresh batch takes the same three months to mature before it's ready. That's why you'll sometimes see pre-orders on our site. The perfume is made. It's just not finished resting.
And when it is, that's the bottle in your hands. The rest, you'll never smell. That was the point.
