Some perfumes can actually become more concentrated as time goes on. It all depends on their composition. The heart and base notes deepen and intensify the scent as the top notes fade.
However, not all perfumes get stronger with time. In most cases, air, heat, light, and humidity exposure can spoil fragrances. They might change the scent, colour and texture.
To ensure your fragrance is still good, check its colour and consistency. The fragrance has gone off if it suddenly looks darker, cloudy, and feels sticky or grainy.
Of course, the most obvious test is how it smells. If the scent is sour or metallic, it’s time to throw the bottle away.
